Smoking Prohibition in Turkey
The Act concerning Prevention of Tobacco Products’ Harms has been replaced as ‘The Act Concerning Prevention and Control of Tobacco Products’ Harms‘according to the law numbered 4207. Smoking is prohibited inside the Public Buildings (including the corridors) and any other buildings used for education, health, commerce, social & cultural events, sports, entertainment or similar buildings used for illegal acts. However, it is also prohibited in all transportation vehicles, even taxi services extending from highways, railways, seaways to airlines. Special rooms are designed for customers smoking in hotels and external areas of stadiums are also restricted. For this reason, smoking is prohibited in outdoor sports venues where all sports, cultural, artistic events and entertainments are held.
Prohibited Alcohol and Other Drugs
Using and selling drugs except prescribed medicines, smoking and drinking alcohol are considered as illegal acts in terms of related Acts of Turkish Penal Procedures.
Traffic Rules
The traffic law numbered 2918 has defined some restrictions about circumstances for drivers in intra city and interprovincial roads. Speed limit is determined in accordance with roads’ features and weather conditions with regard to this law. Drivers exceeding speed limit are fined after checking the speed via speedometer or other kinds of technical devices.

Is the Driving License which is obtained abroad valid in Turkey?
Foreigners can drive vehicles with foreign and Turkish license plates in our country with their appropriate driving licenses obtained abroad on condition that laws related to Turkish citizens and mutual or multiple agreements are kept secret.
However, foreigners coming to Turkey for work, mission or education except those coming temporarily for touristic reasons must carry their driving licenses and their certified samples translated by a notary or by the consulate with them.
