11.03.2010-Within the inspection of FISU Erzurum 2011 Universiade test events have taken start at Palandöken mountain. During the competitions catagories will be cross-country ,snowboard and alpine discipline.148 athletes from 24 countries will be participating.At the opening ceremony of Palandöken Mountain,Ski Federation President Özer Ayık, Erzurum 2011 General Coordinator Bekir Korkmaz, Ice Hockey Vice President Serhat Enyüce, Provincial Director of Youth and Sports Fatih Çintimar took part.
Ski Federation President Ayık, said that, ıt was the first time ever they have held such a big organization at Palandöken mountain.
Ayık, also reminded that they have actually held many international organizations at Palandöken, ‘but this time I think this organization is a lot more important from those we have held in the past. So this is the first official organization before the WU’ he said.
FISU Members Will be İnspecting
Many of our FISU guests are actually here for inspecting and to see how we are organizing the games.For this reason this organization means a lot to us.And we are very exiceted for this reason. 24 countries are participating at the competition.I hope we will organize 2011 WU perfectly and we are working very hard.
Ayık stated that, they will organize the games in 3 categories which are: ‘’ For Alpine Skiing 80 athletes from 22 country, cross-country 43 athletes from 9 country and snowboard 25 athletes from 4 country will be competing.’Its the first time we are organizing snowboard championship. We are very excited and happy’ he said.
These Competitions Are Very İmportant To Us
Erzurum 2011 General Coordinator Bekir Korkmaz preparations proceed as prescribed in the master plan, he said.
Korkmaz, ‘’We will organize 2011 WU 11 months later. We will be hosting thousands of athletes from 50-60 countries. For this reason we have formed our committees and directorates.Test events which have started today at Palandöken FISU members will be inspecting the games.This is very important for us to see our progress so far. I have no doubt that we will organize the best Universiade at Erzurum’’.
Test events which will be held under the supervision of FISU will end on 15th of March.
