03.02.2011 – ERZURUM MEDIA – Yunus Akgül, Director General of Youth and Sports Affairs, said that 25th WU is continuing as planned and that they should be able to breed champions in the coming years. Akgül also stated that if they were unable to do so, then the nation should bring them to book.
Akgül thanked the citizens of Erzurum for their interests in the games and their support and gentleman behaivours. Akgül stated that there has never been this much of interest and this kind of gentleman behaivours in the history of World University Winter Games, and added, “our working hours are just starting. We will carry out every way of advertisement in order to keep these venues up and running. Erzurum will become an important training camp center. Already, some of the sports federations started their process to execute their training camps. Athletic Federation is coming to Erzurum in order to take a look at the Kandilli Ski Center.” Akgül said, “We do have excuses for now.” and continued, “the venues are newly constructed. However, this nation should bring us to book if we won’t be able to train successful athletes in winter sports.”
