01.02.2011-ERZURUM2011MEDIA- In the Pairs' Figure Skating Russian couple took the first rank with 54.30 points while Turkish couple Alisa Agafonova and Alper Uçar became 4th with 49.58 points.
On the 6th day of the 25th WU, 30 skaters from 10 different countries competed in Pairs’ Figure Skating short programme competition that was held in the 2,000-capacity rink.
Alper Uçar and Aliza Agafonova who competed in Pairs’ Figure Skating competition and received applauses became 4th.
Italian Lorenza Alessandrini and Simone Vaturi became second with 50.21 points and Louise Walden and Owen Edward from the UK were third with 49,89
Speaking after the game, Uçar said that their aim had been to be among the top five before he took stage.
Aliza Agafonova who replied the journalists’ questions after the competition expressed her honour to represent Turkey and added, “there was an amazing attendance in the rink and I was surprised. We tried to do our best.”
Alper Uçar said, “we had both influenza, thus we could only represent %80-%90 of our performance. Nevertheless we performed well. We know that Turkey is hungry for success. I and Aliza proved our success at international level. We will represent Turkey better on the second day of the competition.”
