30.01.2011 – ERZURUM 2011 MEDIA – Turkish athletes participated in the ongoing official trial jumps at the Turk Telekom Jumping Towers. On the third day of the 25th WU, national athlete Mustafa Öztaşyana performed the first of the official trial jumps.
Öztaşyana stressed that he has been a part of this discipline since he was 14 years old and added that he had been an Alpine skier until he showed potential in ski jumping 4 years ago.
Authorisation by the Ski Federation
Öztaşyana who stated that he would perform his jump with the special authorisation from the Turkish Ski Federation, said “My greatest advice to ski jumping athlete candidates is that they should show willingness and never give up, because it is a sport worth of being a part of.”
Mustafa’s father Hasan Öztaşyana, said “I am proud of my son and I support him. I believe he will represent his country in the best way possible. We are aware of the possible dangers of the sport, however we would not to throw cold water on him. Thanks to these venues, now Mustafa can train in Erzurum and will not have to go far away from his home. This is a pleasing news for us.”
