29.01.2011- ERZURUM 2011 MEDIA – The athletes who were successful in 5 branches received their medals. FISU President George E. Killian who attended to the award ceremony charmed the citizens of Erzurum with his sympathetic attitudes. In the second day of the games, the athletes who became first in Women’s Ski Jumping K95, Men’s and Women’s Freestyle Mogul Skiing, Individual Nordic Combine, Women’s 5 km Cross Country, Men’s 10 km Cross Country received their medals at the award ceremony.
FISU President George E. Killian and Deputy Director General of Youth and Sports Affairs Mehmet Kocatepe attended to the award ceremony that was held in front of the historical Madrassa with Two Minarets. The podium was visited by, Italian athlete Elena Runggalider and her compatriot Lisa Demetz and Japanese athlete Yurika Hirayama who ranked in top three in Women’s Ski Jumping K95 received their medals from FISU President Killian. Kazakh athlete Darya Rybalova became first, Russian athlete Irena Pisarevskava became second and her compatriot Elena Zueva became third in Women’s Freestyle Mogul Skiing while Russian athletes Aleksander Kerner, Evgeny Mikhaylov and Denis Moiseyev ranked in top three in Men’s Freestyle Mogul Skiing.
Swiss athlete Tomas Martin who took first place in Individual Nordic Combine while German athlete Steffen Tepel and Russian athlete Ivan Panin who took the second and third places, received their medals.
Russian athlete Aliya Iysanova who became first, Ukranian athlete Kateryna Grygorenko
who became second and Italian athlete Viriginya Merlortular who became third in Women’s 5 km Cross Country received their medals.
Russian athlete Viladislav Skobelev who became first, Japanese athlete Akira Samuel Lenting who became second and Kazakh athlete Gennadiy Matviyenko who became third in Men’s 10 km Cross Country received their medals from FISU President George Killian.
Deputy Director General of Youth and Sports Affairs Mehmet Kocatepe gave the mascot of the 25th WU “Kanka” as a gift to the medalists.
THE CEREMONY AROUSES INTEREST
Citizens of Erzurum showed interest to award ceremony that was held at the historical Madrassa with Two Minarets despite the cold weather. FISU President Killian who had a chat with the police and the citizens took a souvenir photograph with them.
