21.01.2011- The venues built by General Directorate of Youth and Sports for Erzurum 25th Winter Universiade costs approxiamtely 600 million liras. These venues include five winter sports halls, three ski centers, a jumping tower, a stadium and athletes villages.
The venues that are seen as the history of republic’s the biggest sport investment for a single organization include an ice rink hall with a capacity of 2 thousand spectators, an ice rink with a capacity of 500 spectators and a training hall, an ice hockey hall with a capacity of 3 thousand audicences, an ice rink hall with a capacity of 500 spectators, a curling saloon with a capacity of 1000 spectators capacity, Konaklı Ski Center, Palandöken Ski Center, Kandilli Ski Center, Kiremitliktepe Ski Jumping Venue, Cemal Gürsel Stadium and Sports Villages.
OUTSTANDING VENUES
-ICE RINK HALL WITH 2000 SPECTATOR CAPACITY
The ice rink hall that is located in Palandöken town is built on a 7000 square meter area with 5 thousand 833 square meter closed area. This multipurposal ice rink hall ( basketball, volleyball and handball) with 60x30 sizes, has 800 square meter rink, a sauna, a condition, meeting room, a press conference room, a heating room, a dressing room, and a VIP recreation room. Each room has a telephone system and internet Access network.
The venue has an open parking area with a capacity of 100 vehicles, 25 parking areas for handicapped people, and entries for spectators, athletes, VIP and ambulance. 25 personnels work in the venue.
- ICE RINK WITH 500 SPECTATOR AND THE TRAINING HALL
The ice rink that is located in Palandöken town is built on a 8 thousand 84,2 square meter closed area. This multipurposal ice rink with 30x60 sizes has three training hall, a heating hall, a condition hall, two referee halls, two trainer dressing rooms, four dressing rooms, four drying rooms, a sauna, a first aid room, a bureau and a office, cafes and lounge halls, a VIP, lodge and a navigation area, a press navigation area. Each room has a telephone system and internet Access network.
The venue has a parking area with a capacity of 162 vehicles, 15 parking areas for handicapped people, a parking area for ambulance and entries for spectators, athletes, VIP and ambulance. 15 personnels work in the venue.
- AN ICE HOCKEY HALL WITH 3000 SPECTATOR CAPACITY
The ice hockey hall that is located in Cemal Gürsel Sport Campus, is built on a 14 thousand 288,49 square meter closed area. It has FISU and VIP lodges, a press Office and meeting rooms, offices and bureaus for administrative personnel, a conference hall, four dressing rooms, two dressing rooms for referees, two dressing rooms for trainers, a recreation room for atheletes and canteen, four drying rooms, a condition room, a sauna, a massage room, a health and doping control room, spectator lounges and a cafe.
Each room has a telephone system and internet Access network. The vanue has an open parking area with a capacity of 484 vehicles, 20 parking areas for handicapped people, a parking area for 21 buses, five outside broadcast trucks, an ambulance parking area and entries for spectators, athletes, VIP ,ambulance, snow cleaning vehicle and press.

The ice hockey hall that is located in Cemal Gürsel Sport Campus, is built on a 13 thousand 390,7 square meter closed area. This multipurposal venue with 60x30 sizes has a sauna, four dressing rooms and a heating room. Each room has a telephone system and internet access network. The venue has an open parkin area with a capacity of 484 vehicles, a parking area for 20 handicapped people, five outisde broadcast vehicle, 21 buses and five ambulances; and entries for spectators, atheletes, VIP, ambulance, snow cleaning vehicle and press. 10 personnels work in the venue.
- A CURLING HALL WITH 1000 SPECTATOR CAPACITY
The curling hall that is located in Mecidiye District is built on a 10 thousand 685,78 square meter closed area. This multipuposal ice rink with 58x31 sizes has a curling playing field with five lanes, a training hall, four dressing rooms, a first aid and doping control room, two trainer dressing rooms, two referees dressing rooms, receartion halls for VIP and press, offices and bureaus. The venue has an open parking area with a capacity of 88 vehicles, nine parking area for handicapped people, five parking area for buses, two parking area for outside broadcast vehicles and three bus stops. The venue has entries for spectators, atheletes, VIP, personnel and snow cleaning vehicles.
KONAKLI SKI CENTER
The ski center which is 17 kilometers off the city center, is situated on a 460 hectare field. The track situated on a 62 hectare field will be covered with artificial snow during the sport events. Within the center which can offer service to 8 thousand skiers an hour, has a service building, a cafeteria and a maintenance building with also ski rental and sale offices, ticket offices, a dining hall, a recreation center and transportation units are available to fulfill the daily needs of athletes and visitors.
The center consists of Men Super Giant Slalom Track, Men Giant Slalom Track, Men Slalom Track, Women Super Giant Slalom Track, Women Giant Slalom Track, Women Slalom Track. Within the center there is a parking area for 2 thousand 208 cars and 12 buses. Also, there are 15 staff members in the venue.
PALANDÖKEN SKI CENTER
In the Palandöken ski center, which is 4 kilometers off the city center, has a 3 thousand 271 meters of altitude, consists of 5 chair lifts, 1 teleski, 2 baby lifts, 1 gondola lift, cafeteria, maintenance building, and the Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports building. The Snowboard and Freestyle Skiing events will take place in this center.
KANDİLLİ SKI CENTER
The center situated on a 160 hectare field will offer service during the biathlon and cross country events. The tracks’ length in the center which is 36 kilometers off the city center, changes from 1,713 to 1,767 meters.
Within the center which has a parking lot available for 346 vehicles, there is a dormitory, service, competition administration and maintenance buildings and also the alpine skiing storage and control buildings and biathlon storage building are situated in the center. The cross country venue is composed of 2,5 kilometers, 3,75 kilometers, and 5 kilometers blue and red tracks with two sprint tracks and apart from that there is a cross country stadium, a competition dispatch and administration building, wax cabinets for every team, a ski testing area, a warm-up area, a spectators’ area, a VIP tent, press and parking area. On the other hand, the biathlon track consists of 30 electronic targeting system in addition to 2 kilometers, 2,5 kilometers, 3 kilometers, 3,3 kilometers, and 4 kilometers cross country tracks. Moreover, there is a 150 meters penalty loop, a start/finish area, and a spectators area with a capacity of 1,500.
KİREMİTLİKTEPE SKI JUMPING CENTER
The venue which is located to the North of Palandöken Ski Center and to the South of Athletes’ Village is situated on Kiremitliktepe. In the venue which has 2 jumping towers for K125 and K95 competitions and 2 jumping ramps, there are 3 K65, K40 and K20 training ramps. The jumping towers bear the name of its sponsor, Türk Telekom.
ATHLETES’ VILLAGE
The athletes’ village which is situated in Erzurum Atatürk University and Credit and Dormitories Institution Campus is 3 kilometers away from the city center and 11 kilometers away from the airport. Athletes’ Village is composed of 3 main bodies, combined, international and accomodation area. Within the combined area, there is a press area, bowling and pool halls, an entertainment center, a terminal station area, 2 groceries, a patisserie, a movie theatre, banks and ATMs. The international area is composed of an accreditation center and team captains and chiefs of delegations conference building. The accomodation area is composed of accomodation blocks, a Athletes’ Village administration building, a shopping center, a dining hall, flag area, a sport center, a storage and wax room and an rifle room.
CEMAL GÜRSEL STADIUM
Cemal Gürsel Stadium, which is located in the Youth and Sport Campus with a capacity of 20 thousand, is situated on a 12 thousand 500 square meter closed area and has a 110x75 meter turf. Within the stadium, in the press and information center, there is an international broadcasting center and a media press center with a press accreditation center, an athletics room and club rooms.
