22.12.2010-Official opening was held yesterday evening in front of the jumping towers.The athletes will represent Turkey with their last performance before 25th WU games which wil be held in Erzurum.
Among the participant of the opening ceremony were Governor Sebahattin Öztürk,TUSF President Prof.Dr.Kemal Tamer,Atatürk University Rector Prof.Dr. Hikmet Koçak,General Coordinator of 2011 Bekir Korkmaz and Provincial Director of Youth and Sports Yunus Akgül.
Speaking at the opening ceremony Governor Sebahattin Öztürk , 1stTurkeyUniversity WinterGames, is a preludetoErzurum, "After this, we’ll see you more frequentlyin Erzurum," he said.
"FACILITIES WILL BE TESTED’’
Mr.Tamer stated that ‘1st Turkey University Games’ was considered to be the major event of‘Local Winter Games’ held first time in our country.These games will give us the opportunity to determine the performence of our athletes who will be presenting us during 25th WU games.
‘’1st Turkey University Games’’ will give us the ability test the facilities and the organization so for this reason we must consider this event very importantly.’’
SUPERB SHOW FROM ‘FIRE OF ANATOLIA’
Suberb show of ‘Fire of Anatolia’ which was held in front of the jumping towers has fascinated the tribunes.
Competitions will be held under the branches of biathlon,curling, and ice hockey. During the competitions 350 athletes from 20 University will be participating.Besides,due tolack ofsufficientsnow alpine discipline,cross-country and snowboard competitions were canceled.
