19.12.2010-ERZURUM 2011 MEDIA-At first day of FIS Continental Cup Ski Jumping competition which is organized within the 25th Universiade Winter Games’s test competitions, Anssi Koivuranta from Finland and Stefan Thurnbichler from Austria shared the first place.

Besides Turkey, 52 athletes fromNorway, U.S.A., Germany, Austria, Netherlands, Poland, Bulgaria Russia, Ukraine, Slovenia, Finland and Romania attended the competitions which were held at Jumping towers, at Kiremittepe region. First 30 athletes competed at first day final jumps .
Anssi Koivuranta from Finland and Stefan Thurnbichler from Austria shared the first place with 252 points, Sorsell Elverum from Norway got the 3rd place with 247.5 points, Rafal Sliz from Poland got the 4th place with 245 points, Primoz Pikl from Slovenia got the 5th place with 244.5 points and Mario Innauer from Austria got the 6th place with 243.5 points.

Athletes who made statements after the competitions, praised the jumping towers and mentioned gladness of the audience’s interest to the competition.
International Ski Federation Coordinator Horts Tielman by pointing out that Ski Jumping is held at first time in Turkey, expresses that; “A good job is being done here. This is an experience. There is an extraordinary team work although the games are arranged for the first time. We saw Turkey very willing to the games.”
National athletes Faik Yüksel who is representing Turkey got 50th place with 62 points among 52 athletes.
Ski Jumping competitions will continue tomorrow at 17.00 pm. North Combined competitions will start with jumps at Kiremitliktepe region at 10.00 am and will be complete with Cross Country competitions at the ring beside Cemal Gürsel Stadium at 14.00 pm.
