Venues

Kandilli Ski Resort:
Kandilli Nordic Ski Center is constructed on a field of 160 hectares (acres) and will serve as a cross country skiing and biathlon venue during the Winter Universiade 2011 and multipurpose facilities for the community twelve months of the year. It is located 36km away from the city center of Erzurum. The altitude of courses about 1.713-1.767meters.

Cross Country Skiing
Kandilli Cross country skiing venue has 2,5km, 3,75km and 5km blue and red courses and two (1,6km and 1,3km) sprint courses as well as a cross country stadium, race management building and service buildings, dedicated wax cabins for each team, ski testing area, warm-up courses, spectators area, tents for VIP, media and parking areas. All courses and stadium have artifical snow making equipment.

• Sprint Course (Free)
The course is 1.297m in length, 9-12m in width, and 22m in height difference. Max. climb is 19m and the total climb is 30m. Lowest point is 1.713m and highest point is 1.735m.
• Sprint Course (Classic)
The course is 1.600m in length, 9-12m in width, and 22m in height difference. Max. climb is 19m and the total climb is 40m. Lowest point is 1.713m and highest point is 1.735m.
• 2.5 km Course (Blue)
The course is 2.500m in length, 9-12m in width, and 51m in height difference. Max. climb is 32m and the total climb is 82m. Lowest point is 1.713m and highest point is 1.764m.
• 2.5 km Course (Red)
The course is 2.500m in length, 9-12m in width, and 54m in height difference. Max. climb is 32m and the total climb is 86m. Lowest point is 1.713m and highest point is 1.767m.
• 3.75 km Course (Blue)
The course is 3.750m in length, 9-12m in width, and 54m in height difference. Max. climb is 34m and the total climb is 122m. Lowest point is 1.713m and highest point is 1.767m.
• 3.75 km Course (Red)
The course is 3.750m in length, 9-12m in width, and 54m in height difference. Max. climb is 32m and the total climb is 127m. Lowest point is 1.713m and highest point is 1.767m.
• 5km Course (Blue)
The course is 5.000m in length, 9-12m in width, and 57m in height difference. Max. climb is 42m and the total climb is 160m. Lowest point is 1.710m and highest point is 1.767m.

Biathlon
The Biathlon Venue is located at Kandilli Ski Resort. It is composed of five Cross-Country Skiing courses of 2,0km, 2,5km, 3,0km, 3,3km, and 4,0km, and a standard shooting range with 30 electronic targets (HORA2000), 150m penalty loop, start/finish area and a spectator area for 1500 people.

• 2 km Course
The course is 2.000m long, 6-8m wide, and 30,66m in height difference.
• 2.5 km Course
The course is 2.459m long, 6-8m wide, and 30,66m in height difference.
• 3 km Course
The course is 3.138m long, 6-8m wide, and 42,41m in height difference.
• 3.3 km Course
The course is 3.411m long, 6-8m wide, and 42,41m in height difference.
• 4 km Course
The course is 4.000m long, 6-8m wide, and 42,11m in height difference.

Ski Jumping
Situated in the North of Palandoken Ski Resort and South of 2011 Athletes’ Village; 5 minute walk from the Athletes ‘Village. There are two jumping hills and two ramps for competitions K125, K95, and 3 ramps for training K65, K40, and K20.

• Normal Hill K95
The elevation of K95 jumping hill from sea level is 1.995,23m. at the highest point and 1902m. at the lowest (outrun area).

• Large Hill K125
The elevation of K125 jumping hill from sea level is 1.995,10m. at the highest point and 1902m. at the lowest (outrun area).

Erzurum Konaklı Alpine Skiing Venue
Konaklı Alpine Skiing Venue which has 450 acres skiing area is 17km away from Erzurum City Center. Stable Buildings inculding Cafeteria, Maintenance Building and Facility Building. The facility building consists of the units like ski renting, sale, ticket office services, café, cafeteria, rest and serving to meet the needs of the competitors and the visitors who make use of Konaklı Skiing Venue. The one-story cafeteria building consists of units which meet the food requirements of our competitors. The maintenance building consists of the units of maintenance and service, offices and parking area for 4 snow motors.

Alpine Skiing

• Men Super Giant Slalom
The start elevation is 2.960m. and finish elevation is 2.340m.
• Men Giant Slalom
The start elevation is 2.852m. and finish elevation is 2.495m.
• Men Slalom
The start elevation is 2.695m. and finish elevation is 2.495m.
• Women Super Giant Slalom
The start elevation is 3.045m. and finish elevation is 2.495m.
• Women Giant Slalom
The start elevation is 2.850m. and finish elevation is 2.495m.
• Women Slalom
The start elevation is 2.695m. and finish elevation is 2.495m.

Palandöken Ski Resort
3.271m Palandöken Mountain is 4km from the city center. The competitions of Snowboarding and Freestyle Skiing will be held in this resort.

Snowboarding
All disciplines of Snowboarding will be competed at Palandöken Ski Resort.

• Parallel Giant Slalom
The course is 567m long, 60m wide, 152m in vertical drop, and an average grade of 28%.
• Snowboard Cross
The course is 734m long, 30-50m wide, 178m in vertical drop, and an average grade of 25%.
• Half-pipe
This course is 172m. long, 5,8m. high with a width lip to lip (WLTL) of 18m, with a width bottom section (WB) of 5m. sand an average grade of 17.5%.
• Slope Style
This course is 744m long and 20-30m. wide with a vertical drop of 187m. and an average grade of 26%.

Freestyle Skiing
All the Free Style competition venues are located within Palandöken Ski Resort

• Ski-Cross
This course is 734m. long and 30-50m. wide with a vertical drop of 178m. and an average grade of 25%.
• Mogul
This course’s elevation of starting point betwen 2.735(m) - 2.605(m) vertical drop of 130 horizontal length of 300, sloping lenght of 327 m and average grade of %43.

Short Track
Erzurum indoor Short Track Venue (30x60m²) opened March 9th 2009 in the downtown city. The venue has a construction area of 6.000m² with a seating capacity of 2.000. The rink has suitable facilities including locker rooms, lounges, medical room, doping control room and enough official rooms for the technical panel, judges and officials. The venue has hosted many times national figure skating competitions.

Figure Skating
Erzurum indoor Ice Skating Rink (30x60m) opened March 9th, 2009 in the downtown. It has a construction area of 6.000m² with a seating capacity of 2.000. The rink has suitable facilities including locker rooms, lounges, medical room, doping control room and enough official rooms for the technical panel, judges and officials. It has hosted national figure skating competitions many times.

Ice Hockey
The Ice Hockey competitions for Women and Men will be respectively Erzurum 3000 and 500 spectator rinks which are located in Cemal Gürsel Sport Complex.
3000 Ice Hockey Arena: Located on the Cemal Gürsel Sports Campus, 3000 Spectator Ice Hockey Arena is newly-built with an ice rink of 60m x 30m and 3000 seats for spectators.

500 Ice Rink: Located on the Cemal Gürsel Sport Campus, the newly-built Ice Rink has an ice rink of 60m x 30m and 500 seats fixed in the ice rink.
A portable Ice Rink will be provided for training.

Curling
Built and put into use in October, 2010, the Curling Arena has 1000 seats and 5 curling competition sheets.
The Venue has enough lounges, 4 for athletes, 1 for chief referee, 1 for the chief referee, 1 for referees and judges and 1 for Technical Delegates. In addition, there are 4 VIP rooms with Internet connections, closed-circuit TVs and telephones.
