Pre-Arrival 

• Visa requirements for foreigners visiting Turkey are numerated on a country-specific basis in the information below.

• Either ordinary passports or official passports are required to enter Turkey. The term “official passports” covers diplomatic, service, special and other official passports.

• Please make your visa application in person and at least one month before you depart for Turkey in order to avoid any inconveniences.

• Despite the visa regime applied to the citizens of a country, the “travel document” holders of that country need to obtain a visa from Turkish missions beforehand.

• All foreigners, except for those exempt from visa requirements, should obtain their visas at the Turkish missions; e.g. Turkish Consulates and Turkish Embassies.

• Participants and media staff requiring a visa should apply to the Turkish Embassy or Turkish Consulate nearest to their residence January 1st 2011.

• All visas will be exempt from charges.

• Delegations from all participating countries and regions and other international participants must fill out the Visa Application Form of Turkey, and present documents including an official invitation issued by EWUOC, valid passport/travel document (valid for more than 6 months after application and with sufficient blank pages for visa), and visa photos to the Turkish embassies and consulate-generals. Other certification materials related to visa application may also be required by Turkish visa officials. EWUOC suggests that participants allow at least 10 working days for visa processing before departing to Turkey.

• According to bilateral agreements, citizens from certain countries are exempt from visa application by presenting a valid and appropriate passport when entering Turkey. Their duration of stay in Turkey shall be no longer than 30 days starting from entry. Should an extension of stay be necessary, application should be submitted to relevant Turkish authorities as soon as possible after arrival.

• The citizens of the countries who gain their visa upon entry to Turkey will submit the official letter of EWUOC to the Customs Authorities special members of which will only serve Universiade Delegations.

• Visitors to Erzurum Winter Universiade 2011, other than the participants, officials and media members must pay ordinary visa charges.

• Officials, participants, and media members who have previously obtained their visas and whose visas will be valid until the date they leave Erzurum after the games will not be charged extra visa and residence permit fees. For others, the ordinary charges and normal procedures will be applied.

• In order to facilitate the visa procedures, the persons applying for visa can e-mail info@erzurum2011.gov.tr before December 27th, 2010.

• In order to provide a smooth running entrance procedure there will be Universiade Desks at Istanbul, Ankara, Erzurum Airports
